Blessed Rani Maria: A Great Moment for Church in India, Says Pune Bishop Dabre

By His Grace Bishop Thomas Dabre, Bishop of Poona  –

Just about 22 years ago Sr. Rani Maria was stabbed at death near Indore, Madhya Pradesh; and now she is declared to be a  Saint-in-heaven.

We thank and praise God for His wonderful deed. Those who selflessly worked for the Mission of Jesus Christ, have been received into the joys of the Heavenly Kingdom.

Sister Rani Maria remained faithful to her commitment to Jesus and steadfastly worked for the cause of Jesus Christ.

Jesus said in the beatitudes – Blessed are those who are the peacemakers and those who hunger for justice.

This is what Sister Rani Maria, did among the poor people of Madhya Pradesh. A mission for which she laid down her life. An ordinary and simple nun, practically  unknown in the world except in the tiny rural area, where she organised simple unemployed and uneducated women in self-help groups. And thus she gave a sense of dignity and self-reliance to those village women.

Her life is a great inspiration and challenge to us.

In life your status, your position, your riches, your popularity, your name and fame do not matter.

In the ultimate analysis, what is important is that we remain faithful to God’s Holy Will to our vocation, to our calling and our commitment.
