Nurture the Goodness of Your Heart

Readings: Wis 12:13, 16 -19; Rom 8:26-27; Mt 13:24 – 43

All the three readings of today’s liturgy remind us that our God is patient, loving and merciful. The first reading tells us that our God is just, righteous and desires repentance for our sins.

In the second reading we hear that God sends His Holy Spirit to help us in the time of our weakness. The gospel gives us the understanding that there are both good and evil people in this world and great caution and patience must always be shown in dealing with the sins of the people around us. God owns the field, and he sows righteousness. He works actively to make each human being produce the fruits of divine values.

The devil works under the cover of darkness to destroy the good intentions of the people. When we are in touch with our God, we get the awareness of what is growing in our hearts, whether goodness or evil. We need to make constant efforts to make our good values develop and grow in our hearts, because negativity and hatred in us need only less care whereas goodness needs more care to flourish.
