Readings: Jon 3: 1-10; Lk 10: 38-42
In the first reading, God forgave the people of Nineveh for they had shown repentance for their sins.
In the gospel, we find that Mary chose a better path of following the Lord. God gave us the freedom to choose in life. It is totally our choice what we want to do at a given situation in our life. There is good and bad in the world. Since the choice is in our hands, the result will be good if we choose good and the opposite, if we choose evil. During times of difficulty, if I fail to take proper steps, fail in life, and lose hope I cannot blame God saying God does not care for me.
One thing is sure, none of us knows our future. So, we need to keep faith in God and go forward in our lives. Even on our deathbed, God is ready to forgive us like the thief whom he forgave on the cross.
Still, it is not late to turn to him and ask pardon for our sins. The freedom is given to me, and it always comes with responsibility. So, it is my duty to choose good which is eternal rather than worldly pleasures which are temporary. God has also given us a mind where we can reflect over our past and mend our ways according to the will of God to choose a better path like Mary and the people of Nineveh.
