The gospel of the day is very familiar to us. Unless a grain of wheat falls in the ground and dies, it remains the same. It specifically tells about Jesus’ death and resurrection. When we introspect or when we look at the world, we find many people longing for love, and are ready to sacrifice everything they hold dear to them for love. There is a saying, “if you want to find something precious you need to lose something more precious.”
Therefore, today Jesus invites each one of us to die to ourselves. Jesus died and rose again for us. So also it is with us: if we want to gain something we need to lose something. A grain has great potential to grow, flourish, and nourish. However, if it remains as a grain then it produces nothing. Similarly, we are like the grain of wheat, having tremendous potential to grow and produce good fruits.
Unless we give up our ego and pride and personal blocks, we will not be able to produce good fruits. We need to undergo the process of change like a grain of seed which undergoes the process of becoming a tree. Today let us ask our good Lord to give us the courage to accept the process which we go through in our daily life.
