Align Yourself With God’s Guidance

Readings: Deu 18:15-20; 1Cor 7:32-35; Mk 1:21-28

The first reading, unveils a promise of a prophet like Moses, appointed by God to guide his people. This anticipation resonates through the ages, finding fulfilment in Jesus Christ. Reflecting on this passage, we are invited to recognize the continuity of God’s plan and the assurance that he provides prophets and guides to illuminate our paths. In the second reading, Paul advises us to stay focused on God without letting distractions take over. In our busy world, amid life’s demands, we are encouraged to have intentional moments of undistracted communion with the divine.

In the gospel, Jesus shows his power over unclean spirits in a Capernaum synagogue, leaving everyone amazed. This challenges us to think about the negative forces in our lives that stop our spiritual growth. It is like asking ourselves, “Are we okay with letting Jesus take control and kick out the things holding us back?” Just as Jesus had authority in the synagogue, we can invite him to have authority in our hearts, freeing us from anything that is holding us back spiritually.

As we reflect on these readings, let us recognize the prophets in our midst, embrace undivided devotion to God, and welcome the authoritative presence of Christ into every aspect of our lives. In doing so, we align ourselves with God’s guidance, wisdom, and redemptive power.
