Readings: Act 6: 8-10, 7: 54-59; Mt 10: 17-22
Today’s Gospel reading talks about two concerns: one is a warning to be prepared and the other is support from the Spirit. We experience both concerns in our daily life. As religious, we live in a community where we face both opposition and support. God has created us in his own image and has gifted us with different skills and talents. Sometimes there are people who give us a warning, while there are others who support us in times of need. We need to be aware of the people who give us warning and correction; and take it as a pinch of salt rather than stopping our work.
In our workplace, there are times when our own company staff may criticize us for doing something different. So, one needs to ask, do criticism and correction make any sense to me? If it is a yes, I must take it seriously or else just leave it. In our community too, there are people who hurt us in the name of correction by giving false criticism. If we continue to engage with them it might lead to breaking of relationships. When we do something, it should witness Christ’s teaching rather than looking for one’s glorification.
Our dayto-day struggles and difficulties make us prepared to be closer to people. The gospel tells us not to worry about what is going to happen or what is happening. When the time comes heavenly Father will communicate to us through his Spirit.
