Readings: Acts 5:34-42; Jn 6:1-15
Today, the liturgy of the word invites us to seek God’s grace in our daily events. Our age-old tradition has a beautiful custom of seeking God’s grace before beginning anything. We always
attribute our work to God that he may bless, guide, and bring success in our undertakings.
As Christians, we believe that God is our ultimate planner, and we are part of his plan. But in the present times, due to modernity, we have lost this beautiful custom of seeking God’s grace in our work.
Therefore, today through these readings, God is inviting us to seek his grace in our daily events. In the first reading, Pharisee Gamaliel says to the council about apostles, “if this plan or this undertaking is of man, it will fail; but if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them.”
And even in the gospel reading, before feeding the five thousand, Jesus took the loaves and gave thanks to God before he distributed them to all. This shows the importance of God in our life. We always attribute our work to God because all these are due to God alone. As Christians, we believe that God is the centre of our lives. As we are in the season of Easter, let us continue to seek God’s grace in our daily events that the risen Lord may bless our daily life.
