Readings: Sam 1:24-28; Lk 1:45-56
The liturgy of the word invites me to be humble. The first reading tells us about the dedication of the child to the Lord. In the reading, the prayer of Hannah was granted and she saw many wonders in life.
The gospel reading clearly talks about Mary’s acceptance of God’s work in her life. She rejoices and praises God for having shown favour to a lowly woman through her saviour who was yet to come and be born.
The choosing of Mary by God is something extraordinary that God exalts the humble and lowly in heart. God does not look for richness and wealth, because they are not ready to sacrifice and dedicate themselves. To be like Mary, we must have the guts to be humble and obedient to God so that we may get the blessings of God every day. We should let ourselves be open and transform our life in accordance with the spirit of the Lord.
In doing so, we may be able to face the challenges of life and be bold like Mary in our day-to-day life. Let the newness of life occur in us as Jesus is to be born in us to bring us liberation, happiness, and prosperity.
