Miao: Bishop George Pallipparambil of Miao Diocese in Arunachal Pradesh organized a thanksgiving programme to honour and to pray for the Covid warriors of Miao subdivision at his residence on 4 October 2020.
Gathering together the public administration, health workers, police personnel and public leaders of the subdivision under Changlang District, Bishop George said, “Every crisis brings out heroes. Covid-19, one of the most critical times of our life time, has taught us who our real heroes are”. Thanking each of the participants, he added that the gathering was meant to honour and to pray for the Covid warriors who put themselves into risk for the safety of others. “This is an opportunity for us to thank you all in person for what you have done us to keep us safe”, he said.
Noting that the danger of the pandemic is still around, he invited everyone to pray for their safety. There were special prayers made for the health workers, public administration, police personnel, political leaders, public leaders and support staff. The prayers were led by Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians Rose Abileu, Mary Sarkar, Karishma and Fathers Joy Manikathan, David, John Doley, Edvin Prabu and Auxiliary Bishop of Miao Diocese, Dennis Panipitchai.
Speaking on behalf the local public administration, Namrata Tiwari, the Extra Assistant Commissioner of Miao Subdivision, said, “The corona crisis was an opportunity for us to serve the society, which is our responsibility. Getting recognized is a bonus. Your appreciation and prayers for us and for our families mean so much to us”.
Apolo James Lungphi, the Extra Assistant Commissioner of Vijoynagar expressed his happiness over the appreciation and requested for continuous prayer for them as the danger of virus is not over yet.
The Covid warriors were felicitated with a certificate of appreciation.
The event was held to mark the national day of prayer and thanksgiving proposed by the United Christian Prayer for India and to conclude the Season of Creation promoted by Pope Francis.
