Tezu: The Newman Educational Society (NES) conducted its last leg of the day-long in-service teachers training programme for all its teachers working in the eight districts of east Arunachal Pradesh at Krick and Bourry Memorial School, Tezu on 9 July 2022.
Initiating the nine zonal-wise in-service training for the 750 teachers serving for NES, Bishop George Pallipparambil sdb of Miao diocese said, ‘The primary objective of this day-long training programme is help the teachers become aware of the new challenges in education and help them become better teachers to create students who are able to face the challenges of today and tomorrow.”
NES, the educational wing of Miao diocese, has 53 schools spread across the last corners of eastern part of Arunachal Pradesh. “It is important to train the trainers in order to be effective teachers in our efforts educate the last, least and the lost,” said the Salesian prelate.
The topics of the in-service training included problems of the students in modern context, classroom management, Activity based problem solving methods, lesson plans and teaching aids.
Animating the 85 teachers from eight schools from around Tezu town in Lohit district, Father John Pudussery, the Rector of the Bosco Training Institute, Tinsukia, Assam, said “Education has evolved and so are the methods of education. We need to update ourselves as educators to be relevant to the Generation Alpha as students. This training is to sharpen and to hone our teaching skills.”
Planned and prepared by Father Shoby Simon, the Secretary of NES, the first of the nine training was held at Holy Spirit School Senua and the second one was at De Paul School, Tissa in Longding districts. The third and fourth were conducted at Christ the King School, Khonsa and Don Bosco School, Kheti in Tirap district, the fifth, sixth and the seventh trainings were conducted in Changlang district at St. Xavier’s School, Nampong, Don Bosco School, Galenja and St. Jude School, Diyun. The last one will be held at DivineWord School, Roing in Lower Dibang Valley district.
Expressing happiness at the training, Miss Doken Ete from Krick and Boury Memorial School, Tezu said, “This training has helped me with techniques that will make me to be a better teacher in the coming days”.
Binita Tayeng, one of the participants from Santha Maria School, Bekhuliang said “It is the first time I am going through such an interesting and interactive in-service training and it has helped me become aware of how I need to behave with the students to have better classroom management”.
The training has helped me understand the concepts of New Educational Policy, said Sister Rose Mary from from St. Joseph School, Medo.
All the teachers were given certificate of participation at the end of the training session.
