Assam, 13 October: Golaghat Parish, nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Assam, embarked on an extraordinary spiritual journey in June 2023. The mission, a profound testament to faith and community, unfolded across several months, weaving together prayers, masses, blessings, and heartwarming gatherings that left an indelible mark on the lives of the faithful.
In the month of June, the mission began with solemn prayer meetings, a collective plea for divine guidance and blessings. Leaders were elected to steer this spiritual voyage towards greater heights, setting the stage for what would become a remarkable series of events.
The month of July witnessed the parish’s dedicated team embarking on a sacred journey, visiting every village chapel for Holy Mass. The unity and devotion displayed by the villagers were heartening, setting the tone for what was yet to come.
In the month of August, the mission expanded its scope by holding Masses in five key circles within Golaghat Parish. These gatherings served as beacons of hope, where faith was celebrated, and community bonds were strengthened.
The month of September was marked by a profound endeavor as the mission reached out to bless every family within the parish. The blessings brought solace and a deep sense of belonging to the parish community, cementing their faith in this sacred mission.
As October arrived, the parish was abuzz with activity. Blessings extended to five centers, where novenas were held in the villages, and a spiritual retreat was conducted. Animation sessions, aimed at further nurturing the spiritual growth of the community, commenced from the 7th of October. Each center was graced by the presence of three priests and two gifted singers, adding a harmonious dimension to the entire experience.
An impressive total of 17 priests from the Vincentian Congregation (VC) devoted their time and energies to ensure the mission’s success, underscoring the commitment of the parish and the broader faith community.
The success of Popular mission is best reflected in the numbers – an astounding 10,000 participants, hailing from various corners (mandlis) of Golaghat Parish, came together to partake in this spiritual journey. The overwhelming response showcased the deep-rooted faith that binds the community together.
As the mission drew to a close on October 13th, the parish held an exquisite adoration ceremony, followed by a solemn procession and Mass. It was an emotional and profound conclusion to a journey that had touched the hearts of thousands.
The concluding Mass was presided over by none other than Bishop Albert Hemrom, Bishop and spiritual leader of Dibrugarh Diocese. His presence added a special touch to the closing ceremony, as he led the community in prayer and reflection.
In the heart of Golaghat Parish, the spiritual journey was more than just a religious event; it was a vibrant expression of faith, unity, and devotion. As the echoes of this spiritual journey reverberate in the hearts of the faithful, it stands as a testament to the power of belief and the strength of community.
