Amruthraj, who died due to cardiac arrest on 2nd August at 3.00 a.m. at the Clergy Home, Bangalore, will be kept for public homage at Sacred Heart Church on Monday from 09.30 a.m. onwards.
Msgr. Amruthraj was known for his simplicity and humble life. He was very pleasant and accommodating personality that anyone could easily approach him as he made himself available for everybody. He treated everyone equally without any discrimination or priority. He was very helpful, optimistic and championed the cause of the poor, the underprivileged and the disadvantaged in the parishes and the institutions he had served. He went out of his way to empower the poor by giving them education and jobs. Due to his tireless and dedicated service, all the parishes and institutions that he had served saw tremendous growth, both spiritually and temporally.
In a touching condolence message, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Machado, Archbishop of Bangalore said, “His prayer life was very exemplary to one and all. We used to notice him praying quietly before the Blessed Sacrament and reciting the rosary. As the financial administrator and the Vicar General of the Archdiocese, he was directly involved in the financial and pastoral administration of the Archdiocese. Hence, he was instrumental in the pastoral development and the growth of the Archdiocesan parishes and institutions during his time.”
“The other important points that I wish to make here are: The unique and master-piece hand carved wooden altar, the Bishop’s Chair (Cathedra), the Celebrants Chairs, the beautiful lectern were installed by him at St. Francis Xavier’s Cathedral Church. And also, during his tenure as the Cathedral Parish Priest, the projects, such as Adoration Chapel, Mini-Pastoral Centre and the Renovation of the Presbytery were initiated by him. Of course, they were completed after a few years,” the prelate added.
Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let your perpetual light shine upon Msgr. T.S. Amruthraj.
