The readings of today invite me to be on my guard and watchful of the things around me because the kingdom of God is everywhere. It also challenges me to read the signs of the time so that I may have the competency to see the problems around me and may have the courage to act to find a solution for that problem.
The first reading describes the vision of John about Heaven and the earth. The new heaven and earth will replace the old and a New Jerusalem will be there for God’s people. John encourages the people to be righteous and pure to enter the new heaven.
In the Gospel, through a parable, Jesus cautions his disciples and tells them to be watchful of the coming of the Kingdom in their life. The Kingdom of God is everywhere and Jesus invites me to find it in my daily life. I am called to respond to the needs of the time and not to hide my presence from them.
Jesus invites me to be a builder of his kingdom through my efforts to make this world a better place. I am encouraged to face the challenges of the present time and to collaborate with the people who want to build the kingdom. I am invited to reflect more on the words of Jesus which never pass away. Building the Kingdom is Lord’s work and He will surely give me the strength to contribute to this work.
