Readings: Jer 14:17-22; Mt 13:36-43
Jesus is certain and clear in saying that he sowed good seeds in the field. Good seed symbolizes the human and the field symbolizes the world. Now it is clear to us that Godcreated humans with goodness and expect us to be good and become the children of the kingdom of God.
This parable invites me to recall all stages of my life, beginning from the day of my birth up until today. When I was a child, I was innocent, pure, and so open-minded that people around me used to cherish my company. As I grew up, I realized that I have my own preferences, and people around me observed those changes in my behavior.
Today, I have more interest in other things than to become a child of God. Sometimes I encourage negativity and become self-centered. Jesus knows that I have gone away from him and my attitude tells the same.
Today’s first reading teaches us to be open to God and ask pardon for our sins, like the people of Israel asked for mercy. It is our life; we have the freedom to choose how to live. However, we have to be accountable to God in our last days. Jesus will not show any partiality on the Day of Judgment. He would throw the weed into hell and collect the good seed to heaven.
So, let us be alert, alive, and awake and enthusiastic in our actions and behavior, so that our Lord may be in favour of us during our end time.
