Be Attentive to the Holy Spirit

In today’s Gospel, Jesus uses the strong term “unforgivable sin.” What is this unforgivable sin? It is a sin against the Holy Spirit, who guides us from heaven. Some become so blind that they can no longer discern between good and evil, even when confronted with the truth. Unable to recognize sin as sin, they feel no need for repentance, remaining trapped in their ways, failing to see the Holy Spirit’s guiding light. Throughout history, many hard-hearted people have turned away from God. To guide the lost, God sends the Holy Spirit, the Advocate, who continually directs us.

Living in a scientific age, we are reminded by the Gospel not to deny the Holy Spirit, as he reveals what is good and evil. When we fail to embrace the fruits of the Spirit—peace, love, and joy—we become vulnerable to sins like fornication, enmity, and jealousy.

This is a call to be attentive to the Holy Spirit, to listen with open hearts, and to reflect on our actions. We pray to the Holy Trinity for the grace to hear and follow the Spirit’s guidance, so we may bear witness to him in life’s challenges and maintain unshakable faith during difficult moments.
