Readings: Tit 3:1-7; Lk 17:11-19
The readings remind us that we are born with limitations and are not perfect. We can do nothing without the grace of God. We must remember that we were washed in our baptism, confirmed in our faith, and are nourished by the body of Christ. God, in his goodness, made us worthy.
As Christians, we must show our gratefulness to God by living an exemplary life. By being obedient to authorities and parents, who are guided by the creator, we express our gratefulness to God. Our parents are not the ones leading us with their limited knowledge, but it is God who leads us through them. Our parents are instruments of God and gratefulness to them is gratefulness to God.
In today’s world, people, especially the youth are so much influenced by movies that make them disobedient and go against the will of parents, and consider themselves as great in the eyes of the world. It takes us away from God and people who love us. The Christians must do things that make us different from the world.
When we are obedient, loyal, and submissive to our parents and authorities, we become real heroes and heroines in the sight of God. We must remember that it is God who is directing us. Today, in a special way let us be grateful to God and people who are constantly caring for our bright future. Let us express our gratefulness to them by being obedient to their words and pray that we may get enlightened as Christ’s heirs, in the hope of eternal life.
