In our Gospel reading today, we get an insight into what Jesus’ ministry was like, and the impact it had. Jesus had compassion and love for all people, for the sick, the lost, the lonely, the homeless, the disposed, everyone, and he never turned anyone away. This attitude of Jesus and his genuine concern towards people remind us that, whenever we approach Jesus, for
anything that we need for our growth and life, he does not say no to us but rather he does the things, more than what we need and expect.
From this passage, Jesus also teaches us that he is ever ready to welcome all: the oppressed, unloved, uncared, marginalized, utterly poor and disabled people in the society. He welcomed them with good gestures which made them happy and healed of their sickness. Jesus, the Son of God by giving himself totally to people in service, showed us that he is the way to his Father and perfect example in accomplishing God’s mission on earth.
Above all, Jesus wants from us humility of heart and his attitude, to recognize the true love of Father that overflows and works in us for the growth of his kingdom on earth. Something that inspires me most from today’s Gospel is that however crowded or under pressure, Jesus always
had time for people, and he never turned anyone away. This passage places before us some of the questions that are to be answered.
How is the attitude of Jesus compared to our own as his disciples? Do we show the same love, concern and compassion as Jesus demonstrated? Do we make time for people in need? Do we accept and welcome the people who are different from us, who have different views and opinions?
