Readings: Acts 6:1-7; Jn 6:16-21
Today, the liturgy of the word invites us to reflect on the theme of ‘God is with us in our troubles.’ Christians believe and live in the hope that Jesus rose from the dead and is sitting at the right
hand of his Father.
We also believe in Jesus’ promise that all those who believe in him, will have everlasting life. We are also sure that Easter is the result of all sufferings that Jesus went through. Easter is a sign that God is in search of us in our failures.
So, we are assured of happiness after suffering. In the gospel reading, Jesus walks on water and comes in search of disciples who are in trouble. He comes as hope to the hopeless. He comes to bring peace in the fearful moments. Here the disciples experienced happiness and peace after their fear and chaos.
Jesus shows himself as an all-powerful person who has power even over nature. With the arrival of Jesus, disciples reached safely towards the shore, where they were supposed to reach.
In the first reading, the apostles are gathered to solve the problems. In the name of God, and with the help of the Spirit, they were able to discern and solve the problem at hand. God is always with
us, especially in our troubles. Through troubles and struggles, he makes us strong and brings happiness because God is with us, and his power takes control of our situations. Therefore, in this season of Easter, let us be grateful to God who is always in search of us in our troubles.
