The liturgy of the day invites us to reflect upon the theme ‘accountability’. Each one of us is gifted with talents which help us to live a happy life on this earth. God created each of us equally and gave various talents to all of us. We need to understand that we are his servants and he is our master. We need to be humble and grateful to him for the talents and the graces he has given to us rather than blaming God for what he has not given. We are called be faithful and make use of the talents.
We see in the gospel reading that the master gives each servant according to his ability. In the same way God has given many gifts to each of us, it is up to us to decide to become better persons by the grace of God. It is not fair to expect fruit without making any effort.
We have to put in hard work to develop and dedicate ourselves to our master, Jesus. It is always good to avoid comparing ourselves with others and counting what we do not have. We need to be grateful to God for all the talents we are given and need to use them faithfully for the betterment of everyone.
