“He will never forget you anymore”. The gospel of today is inviting us to be persistent in prayer and dependency in God. We see the boldness of a blind beggar in the gospel. He shouts louder even after others discourage him. The strong faith and will power he had made him well. He cries aloud out of his helplessness and as a final resort for him to see the wondrous creation.
Often in our life, situations put us in helplessness. We are questioned; we feel weak physically, psychologically and emotionally. Dedicated persons would feel their life meaningless, people who are active would feel the life dry and monotonous, young and energetic people would feel life colourless, family becomes burden and darkness enters into the shining and beautiful daily life.
That is the moment we are left with freedom to choose: choose to remain helpless or to rise up and act. That is what the blind person did and what is asked from each one of us. We need to keep our trust in God, accept the dark side of life and find light. Spiritual activities like reconciliation, retreats, and even the daily Eucharistic celebration can become an instrument for it. Each moment we keep aside to spend with Jesus will energize us and boost us in our spiritual growth and nourishment. Let us keep aside a few moments a day in prayer to be with him, to thank him, to intercede for others, and to offer ourselves to him. As a person who knows our needs, he would surely answer you and me.
