Readings: Is 41:13-20; Mt 11:11-15
God communicates to us through various people and various events through every single minute of our lives. Are we attentive enough to listen to him? God invites us to prepare our hearts by listening to his words, in our day-to-day living so that he can do wonders in our life. In today’s first reading, we hear about God, who is a redeemer and saviour, and performs his deeds for his people.
Therefore, Prophet Isaiah invites us to be his messenger, and proclaim that the Lord is coming to redeem us and save us from our sins.
Today, I am called to be a messenger of God to prepare the hearts of the people so that God can do wonders in their lives. God can perform miracles only when we cooperate with his will.
In the gospel reading, we hear Jesus praising John the Baptist. John was praised by Jesus because he was preparing the way for him to begin his ministry; by preparing the hearts of the people he was making way for the Lord. Moreover, John received praises from Jesus for being faithful in his tasks.
In this season of Advent, we are reminded of the coming of Christ who is our redeemer and saviour. The readings invite me to examine my lifewhether I am faithful in my given tasks like John the Baptist. I have been given a task by God which is to love him throughout my life and help
others to experience his love in their lives. Secondly, I need to become aware that to experience his love, I need to prepare my heart and that of the people to hear his voice. Today let my prayer be ‘Lord, as I prepare myself to welcome you, give me sound ears that I may be able
to hear your voice’.
