Readings: Is 48:17-19; Mt 11:16-19
The readings of the day remind us to listen to the word of God and act according to its wisdom, because the word of God is the way to heaven. In order to enjoy the wisdom of God, I must understand its meaning and personalize it. Many times, we fail to understand the meaning of the word of God, or of authorities, or of parents, and blame them for the bad effects that happened due to their words.
During Jesus’ time, the Pharisees, Sadducees, and scribes were following the word of God as written in the law without any wisdom. Jesus always tried to explain to them that rules were made for humans, while humans were not made for rules. Life is more valuable and precious, so when I follow any rule, I have to see the context and place to follow the rule.
For that, God has given us wisdom and prudence. God gave us this gift because he loves us. God has given us the choice to choose right and wrong. He respects our decision, but if we wish to become members of his kingdom of happiness and joy, we must learn to choose what is good. Let us then listen to the word of God every day with prudence and walk in the way of light.
