The gospel reading speaks about the uncertainty of the moment in which the Lord would enter our life and what would my attitude be then. In a community, often superior takes it for granted that we are self-motivated and would work diligently without wasting time. In our families too, our parents entrust us with the care of the house or of the younger siblings when they go out in the evening.
If I am a real person who lives without mask, my attitude will be the same. With God, we are always faced with two paths: one of loving responsibly and the other of self-satisfaction. God sees all and he loves us infinitely. It is precisely because he loves us so much that he respects the freedom he gives us. In the gospel, we see the wicked servant who uses his master’s absence for self-satisfaction and his disordered passions.
The master’s household means nothing to him. Today, the gospel invites each one of us to listen to the problems of others and that if we generously give our money/resources to help the needy, we shall receive our reward.
We do not know when Jesus will come to meet us. So let us be ready to always welcome the Lord.
