Readings: Rev 15: 1-14; Lk 21: 12-19
In today’s gospel reading, Jesus predicts a time of persecution for his disciples. In various parts of the world today, Christians are facing persecution. However, these difficult times are not moments of frustration and hopelessness; rather, they are opportunities to stand firm and bear witness to Jesus. Suffering and tribulations are part of being a disciple. Honest Christians often become targets of hatred, ridicule, and discrimination in many places.
It is inspiring to see many who remain strong during persecution, demonstrating the hope and meaningfulness of true Christian life. Their serene approach to suffering and trials sends a powerful message that being a disciple of Jesus makes a difference. The more the followers of Jesus are persecuted, the more the Church flourishes, and the faith of the people grows.
As followers of Jesus, we need not worry, as history has shown. We may be arrested and persecuted for our faith, but not a hair on our heads will perish, for it is Jesus who stands by us. He will grant us the wisdom we need, and in the end, we will gain our souls with God’s help. Let us ask the Lord to fill us with his wisdom so that we may remain strong in our faith and always uphold Christian values.
