Today we celebrate the feast of Annunciation of Mary Because God filled Mother Mary with his grace. In the first reading, we see that Isaiah gives Ahaz a sign of Immanuel. Through the prophet Isaiah, God promised to save his people from destruction, through a son born of Ahaz and he fulfilled his promise.
In the second reading, we see that Christ sacrifice once for all. In the gospel mainly Mary does two things in order to be filled with God’s grace. First, Mary had to empty herself completely in order to receive God’s grace.
Secondly, Mary had to make a free choose to obey God’s will. This led to Mary to become the Mother of God.
In the first reading and gospel reading, we see some common elements like the appearance of the angel, reaction of fear, announce of the birth, objection of the person, the question of clarification and answer being given. We can understand from Mary’s answer to the angel. She is the perfect disciple of Jesus.
This is the invitation to each one to ask our self in what way I can be a perfect disciple of Jesus. Today is the day we need to remember that God has promised to bless all those who do his will. So, by doing his will we will become perfect disciples of Jesus like Mary the mother of God.
