Readings: Heb 2:14-18; Mk 1:29-39
Today we have in the gospel reading, Mark’s version of the programmatic summary of Jesus’ ministry. He enters into people’s lives transforming them through his healing power,
makes himself available to everyone who wanted to spend time with him during the day, and after sunset retires to spend quality time one-to-one with his Father.
Even when accolades and recognition come looking for him, he has no qualms in ignoring them to focus on the mission he knows he cannot compromise. Jesus shows himself as a Man with a Mission. In every interaction he has with others, every hour he spends, and every choice he makes, he is acutely aware of who he is. That is something that most of us can only jealously aspire to achieve.
Despite being publicly professed religious, we often fall short at allowing our vows and consecration inform the decisions we make on a daily basis. That is something I want to imbibe from the Master: How can I order my day, my interactions and my choices deliberately based on my consecration and commitment? And how can I factor in quality time one-to-one with my Father regardless of how busy my ministerial involvements make me feel?
