Belief in Jesus Lead us to Live a Committed Life

David Peter csc –

Readings: Acts 8:1-8; Jn 6: 35-40

The readings of the day invite us to reflect on our trust and faith in Jesus. In the first reading, we see Saul vigorously persecuting the Christians on one hand, and the courageous proclamation of Philp about Jesus on the other. His courage is his belief in Jesus and a deep desire to give the good news of Jesus to the Samaritans.

In the gospel, Jesus reveals himself-‘I am the bread of Life’. We receive this bread of life every day during Eucharist, both in word and deeds.

Let us ask ourselves, ‘do we live our lives or just exist like any other being’? Our life remains merely an existence when we live in dependence of one’s abilities and earthly qualities.

The real living of life means to have total trust in the Divine Providence by bearing witness to Christ. The trust and belief in Jesus lead us to live a strong relationship with Jesus and make us committed to make God known, loved, and served.

The gospel of the day ends with the promise of an everlasting life which helps us to forgo the pleasures and happiness of an earthly life and be courageous and focused on proclaiming the good news of the bread of life, Jesusthe risen Lord.
