Bengaluru: Christ the King Church, Byrathi sent forth festive vibes as it celebrated the Feast of Christ, the Universal King with a solemn Holy Eucharist celebrated by Rev.Fr. R. Balraj, Parish Priest of Ressurection Church, Indiranagar with Rev. Fr. Y. Michael, the Parish Priest of Byrathi as con-celebrant.
Hundreds of people from Byrathi, Geddalahalli, Doddagubbi and other nearby localities gathered at the Church premises to commemorate the Feast of Christ the King.
The practice of celebration of Jesus Christ as King of the Universe dates back to 1925 when Pope Pius XI instituted the Feast of Christ the King through his encyclical “Ubi arcano dei consilio.” Since then this feast as been celebrated widely throughout Roman Catholic Church. The Anglican, Lutheran and many Protestant churches also observe the feast.
Later in the evening, there was a car procession that went across Byrathi with the statue of Christ the King in it. The faithful walked ahead of the procession holding candles and fervently praying. The feast culminated with the benediction soon after the procession halted at the premises of the Church.
