B’luru: St. Charles College Celebrates World Environment Day with Unique Street Play, Initiatives

Bengaluru: St. Charles PU College in Bengaluru commemorated World Environment Day on June 5, 2024, with a unique and impactful initiative – a street play performed at Halasuru Lake to raise awareness about environmental preservation.

The event was organized under the leadership of Dr. Sr. Nancy Cutinho, Principal of St. Charles Women’s PU College Lingarajapuram, and was attended by staff, students, and Mrs. Aparna Pujari, an eco-entrepreneur who served as the chief guest.

The street play served as a creative and engaging platform to educate the public on the importance of protecting our planet. Mrs. Aparna Pujari unveiled an innovative concept – manufacturing paper pencils with seeds embedded in them. This eco-friendly initiative aligns perfectly with the principles of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (the 3Rs) and serves as a practical example of sustainable living.

During the celebration, Mrs. Aparna Pujari highlighted the college’s commitment to promoting sustainable practices and environmental consciousness. The Manager of St. Charles Women’s PU College, Sr. Lucy Mascarenhas, was also present at the occasion and received saplings from the students. The event not only raised awareness about environmental issues but also inspired others to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives.

The college’s initiative is a testament to its commitment to environmental stewardship and its role in inspiring the community to take action. The event was a successful endeavor to promote eco-friendly practices and to educate people about the importance of preserving the environment for future generations.
