Readings: 2Kgs 24:8-17; Mt 7:21-29
In the first reading, we see that the one who does evil before the Lord will suffer. Evil is the absence of good. Joachim lacked God’s goodness in him, and because of that he was doing evil things. Later he had to go through difficult moments in his life.
The gospel reading says that one who does the will of our heavenly Father will enter the kingdom of God. We hear the parable of the foolish man who built his house upon sand and the wise man who built his house upon rock. We can see in the world after a month of marriage husband and wife are going for divorce. We can find priests and sisters leaving their religious/priestly life after living it only a few months.
When difficulties or problems come, they give up and they are not sanctified in what they are doing. They are like the foolish man who built his house on the sand. When we look into the life of saints we can see that their lives are related to the wise man who built his house on the rock. They have a purpose in their life and they work hard to achieve it. We need to ask ourselves, ‘is God inviting me to build my life on rock or sand?’
