By Loving God, Yoke Becomes Easy, Burden Light

Readings: Deut 7:6-11; 1Jn 4:7-16; Mt 11:25-30

The feast of the sacred heart of Jesus invites all of us to inculcate the purity of the heart of Jesus in our lives. ‘Be holy as the heavenly Father is Holy’. As we celebrate this feast, we are called to cleanse our hearts and minds for Jesus. Jesus gave his pure heart of love to humanity. He showed no discrimination against anybody. All that he wants is to be open to all. He makes an open invitation to all to come and experience his pure love. All the three readings of the day speak about love.

In the first reading we see that Israel was loved by God and was chosen by him to be his treasure forever.

The second reading reminds us that the manifestation of our love has its origin in God, because love itself is the essence of God. In the gospel reading Jesus is asking us to go to him that he will give us peace, joy, love, and rest.

Jesus calls to himself all who labor and are overburdened and gives them rest. All have difficulties and challenges in their life. Jesus himself faced challenges in his life. He did not remain with difficulties, he stepped out from difficulties. He did not remain in the tomb; he rose from the tomb and gave newness of life to humanity.

When we submit ourselves in humility and obedience to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the peace and joy that we receive in the love of God is so comforting that the yoke becomes easy, the burden becomes light.
