Readings: Acts 22: 30, 23: 6-11; Jn 17: 20-26
The liturgy of the word speaks about faith. In the first reading, we find Paul a Pharisee encountering the living God on the way to Damascus. And he believed in Christ whereas Sadducees who were filled with judgmental attitude could not attain his blessings.
Today in our society, we as Christians are suffering from ‘amnesia’ regarding the life and resurrection of Jesus because of which many divisions are taking place. Due to divisions, we have not been able to accomplish the mission of God.
In the gospel reading, Jesus prays that the world may believe that God sent him. He gives his own living example of being united with the Father and shows us a role model to imitate. That union comes from love. By giving his example Jesus urges us to be united in one faith. Only the love of God can bring unity among us. By seeing our love for each other the world will also believe in Christ.
