Readings: 1Jn 1: 1-4; Jn 20: 1-8
Through today’s readings, St. John gives us the message that we need to carry God’s kingdom to the faithful and that is the purpose of our call as religious.
When we love others, we seek their attention, like to spend more time with them, and are keen to take part in activities along with them. In the same way, John loved Jesus. When he heard that Jesus was not found in the tomb, he was the first one to reach the tomb.
Today our Mother Church remembers St. John, whom Jesus loved the most. St. John also loved Jesus back and followed Jesus till his death when everyone else left Jesus and Mary.
In the same way, Jesus loves us, and he has shown his love in the cross by extending his hands and dying for us. The question is, do we love him back as St. John did? We celebrated the birth of Jesus. But have we allowed him to be born in our hearts or is he born only in external cribs? Let us be born and rise with him so that we might love him and carry his message to everyone as faithful religious.
