Catholic Women Council Offers Prayers for Sri Lankan Blast Victims

Secunderabad: Expressing solidarity with the victims of the horrendous terrorist attack on St. Sebastian Church in Negombo, Sri Lanka, and other places where a string of explosions killed over 300 people and injured several hundred on Easter Sunday (April 21, 2019), Catholic Women Council (CWC) conducted a condolence candle light rally and prayer meet at their premises before the statue of Mother Teresa Statue.

Nearly 150 people from all religions – Catholics, Protestants, Muslims and Hindus participated in the gathering.

Catholic Women Council (Telangana and Andhra) is affiliated to Council of Catholic Women of India, Catholic Bishops Conference of India (CBCI) and World Union of Catholic Women’s Organisation.

CWC national president Adv. Mary Alphonsia, Bro. Varghese Theckanath SG (MSI), Dr. Sr. Lissy Joseph, Mr. Shanker Luke (Vice President Minority Commission TS Govt.) Mr. James Sylvester (CAH), Bishop Wilson Singam (Independent Church), Dr. Victor V Rao (BCSS), Mr. S.K. Afzaluddin (General Secretary TPCC), Mr. Dayanad (INTUC Union Leader) Mr. Jeruselem Mathaiah (Christian Activist), Mr. Noble (Ophir Ministry) and men, women and youth from Christian, Muslim, Hindu communities condemned the heinous attack in the churches and other places in Sri Lanka and urged for universal peace.
