Readings: Rev 21:9 -14; Jn 1:45-51
Today we celebrate the feast of Bartholomew the Apostle. Today’s first reading speaks of New Jerusalem, which is an invitation to each one of us to begin a new life with Christ. We are as a community of Christ invited to leave behind our past to be vibrant in the present.
From the Gospel, we can understand what kind of person Bartholomew was. He is a straightforward person; he means what he says. He is an open-minded person because he follows Philip to see who Jesus is. Jesus knows each of us through and through and he also wants to affirm our goodness. Are we ready to let our life be moved by Christ?
Once we allow Christ in our life, we will be the bearers of the truth of God and his faithful witnesses today. We will be faithful to the Lord and walk in his path always, and be an inspiration to one another, helping and supporting each other in our efforts and endeavours. Like Bartholomew, let us continue to follow Jesus as he reveals himself to each one of us in our daily life.
