Today, we celebrate the feast of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. This feast reminds me of the greatest gift that Jesus gave to us, which is his Eucharistic presence. God revealed himself in Jesus Christ in the fullness of time in history. We as pilgrims on earth wait for his second coming in glory.
In the interim, we are blessed with the privilege of partaking in Jesus as our spiritual sustenance. The heavenly nourishment of His Body and Blood satisfies our spiritual hunger and thirst. Although difficult to comprehend through our senses, our faith helps to understand this truth.
This feast invites me to three things. Firstly, it calls me to receive Jesus as often in holy communion and receive him worthily, not missing a chance to meet him in the Holy Mass. Secondly, it calls me to deepen my faith in the presence of the Eucharistic Lord.
With so many Eucharistic miracles happening in and around the world, I must take inspiration from them to deepen my faith. Thirdly, it calls me to be more like Jesus. The more I receive Jesus in my life through the Eucharist, the more I am invited to become compassionate, forgiving, and loving like Jesus.
