We see a generous giver in the image of the landowner. Generosity is not only seen in what we give materially but also in our actions, attitude, and behaviour. Out of his generosity, the landowner shared his wealth and created opportunities for many families to earn their daily wage. He showed the attitude of generosity in his behaviour by valuing them: – ‘a heart of generosity, love, justice, and righteousness’. God is generous and in response, we too are invited to be generous.
How can I be generous in giving? It is to be seen in my action of sharing what I have. I can share my time with a friend listening to him. I could extend my hand in helping others when they need my support, or I could share material goods with someone who is not able to meet his/her needs.
To be generous in my attitude is to accept the other with his/her limitations. I can extend my heart in receiving one’s shortcomings and consider him/her as my own brother/sister. Being a person of understanding is another way of showing our generous attitude towards the other. Generosity in behaviour can be expressed by coping up with different life situations and behaviours of others and accepting them graciously.
