Readings: Acts 13:26-33; Jn 14:1-6
The Gospel reading encourages me to strengthen my faith in Jesus Christ. As the pandemic spread of Covid-19 is creating anxiety, fear, confusion, and uncertain situations across the world, the liturgy of the word offers hope in life. Jesus in every instance instilled in the hearts of people a strong sense of hope and love of God.
The disciples of Jesus, until faced with the crisis of fear, uncertainties, physical impediments, and natural disasters, were strong-heads and quick to react to the insecure thoughts. Like Thomas in the Gospel, I asked God on several occasions to show me the way out of problems.
I understand now that the way of out of problems is to go through it. That is what Jesus did when he was to undergo the painful death on the Cross bearing false accusations, physical suffering, betrayal, hurt, rejections, and disappointments. The example of Jesus is effective to assure anyone his abiding presence while undergoing painful situations in life, “Do not let your hearts be troubled”. If only I am determined enough to go through any situations in life with faith in Jesus, I will discover the way, the truth, and life in him.
