Readings: Job 42:1-3,5-6,12-17; Lk 10:17-24
Today, some people go after wealth and some think that wealth is their God. They think that only wealth can give happiness and satisfaction in their lives. But in reality this wealth never gives them happiness in their lives, sometimes it brings only sadness, fear, frustration, anxiety, fights in the family, rejections in relationship and all kinds of negative things in their lives.
We all know that wealth never leads us to a peaceful life but leads to a life in hell. Yet some of our friends who are rich and have plenty of wealth still live a happy life, because they know that wealth is not God and therefore, they depend only on the God of heaven and earth. They know that they have come naked and one day they have to go back naked. Therefore, God blesses them with his plenty and graces. The best example we have for this is today’s first reading. Job knew that his God is his only precious wealth.
Today’s gospel reading reminds us that we all need to be happy because God has revealed a precious wealth to each one of us in the form of Jesus Christ himself. This is the wealth by which poor become rich and the rich become richest. This is the wealth that leads us to eternal happiness, satisfaction, peace, and inner happiness in our lives.
Today let us ask ourselves, do I have this wealth (Jesus) in my life? Am I poor or rich? If you are rich in Christ, you will be the richest person in this world and if you are poor, you will still be a rich person in this world, if you try and work hard to achieve this wealth ( Jesus Christ).
