Elvis Joseph Receives Special Jury Recognition at Times Network’s Amazing Indians Awards 2024

Bengaluru: Times Network’s Amazing Indians Awards 2024 honoured Elvis Joseph with a special Jury recognition under the Category of Sport Enablers for his remarkable efforts in transforming the lives of children living with HIV through sports.

Billed as the ‘Champion In Me’ (CIM), a sports module conceptualised under the ‘Red Ribbon Revolution’ social initiative by Elvis Joseph’s Bangalore Schools Sports Foundation (BSSF) in 2008 exclusively for children and youth living with HIV/AIDS  empowers their lives through sports as a medium of transformation.

Elvis Joseph has dedicated himself to identifying HIV-affected youth, training them in sports, and helping them engage with the community to become happy and confident individuals. His innovative approach using sports as a tool has been instrumental in breaking down societal stigma and promoting inclusion for this vulnerable group.

Through his tireless efforts and technological ingenuity, Elvis has made a significant difference in the lives of countless children living with HIV. His initiative has empowered these children to compete internationally at various forums, showcasing their talents and resilience.

The Amazing Indians Awards 2024, hosted by Times Network in New Delhi, recognized 13 exceptional individuals across 12 categories, including Education, Agriculture, and Women’s Rights Empowerment. The event, graced by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, also celebrated India’s Olympic successes, with special accolades for bronze medallists Aman Sehrawat and Harmanpreet Singh.

The winners were selected through a rigorous pan-India screening process by an esteemed jury panel comprising Sanjeev Sanyal, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, General M. M. Naravane, Prasoon Joshi, and Renu Sud Karnad, and evaluated by Ernst & Young. The ceremony also featured a captivating dance performance by the visually impaired dancers of Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled.

In his address, Union Minister Rijiju praised the awardees, stating, “All of the people who have been shortlisted are just amazing. Words are not enough, so rather not speak… They are really amazing Indians. The event has felicitated people from all corners of India for their extraordinary contributions.”
