Readings: Wis 2:1a,12-22; Jn 7:1-2,10,25-30
In the first reading of the day, we are called to seek wisdom diligently, to treasure it like a precious gem. The passage emphasizes that wisdom is a gift from God, guiding us on the path of righteousness and protection from evil. It teaches us to listen to our conscience, discern right from wrong, and live in alignment with God’s will, leading to a life of fulfilment and purpose.
In the Gospel of the day, we witness the scepticism and disbelief surrounding Jesus. Despite the rumours and doubts circulating among the people, Jesus remains steadfast in his mission, rooted in the wisdom and authority given to him by the father. He exemplifies a profound trust in God’s plan, even in the face of misunderstanding and opposition.
The readings of the day present a comparison between human wisdom and divine wisdom, human perception and divine truth. Proverbs urges us to seek wisdom as a guiding light, while John’s Gospel challenges us to trust in God’s wisdom beyond our limited understanding. It prompts us to examine our pursuit of wisdom. Are we actively seeking God’s guidance in our decisions and actions? Are we willing to trust in God’s wisdom, even when circumstances seem confusing or challenging? The readings invite us to embrace a deeper relationship with God, to allow his wisdom to illuminate our path, and to trust in his divine plan for our lives.
