Readings: Is 6: 1 – 8; Rom 8: 12 – 17; Jn 3: 1 – 17
Today’s first reading presents Isaiah’s remarkable vision of the Lord seated on a lofty throne, his robe filling the temple. Despite Isaiah’s feelings of unworthiness, he witnesses the Seraphim proclaiming God’s holiness. Their song echoes through the heavens: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory.” Isaiah’s encounter reminds us that we too are God’s beloved children, worthy of his grace and love.
In the second reading, Paul reminds us that we owe a debt not to the flesh but to the Holy Spirit. Through the Spirit, we receive adoption into God’s family. When we cry out to our Abba Father, he listens and confirms our status as his children. We are His heirs, co-sharers with Christ, and recipients of his glory. Our identity is rooted in the Spirit, not in worldly limitations. In the Gospel, Nicodemus, a leader of the Jews confessing Jesus as the one who comes from above sent by the Father. Jesus affirms us that we are born of the spirit of God, and we shall be born again in the times of the resurrection.
Today, the readings make us know that we are the children of God, born of the spirit of God and we shall be united in the Kingdom of God when we are born again with Christ. Let us then, today, embrace the assurance of the word of God that we are God’s children, and may the whole world recognize our identity through the words and deeds we do in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
