The fact that Mr Lahiri has held on to the post of Regional Secretary of Laity Commission of Bengal and Sikkim Region since 2016 proves there has been no progress in lay leadership in the entire Region which has much better, forward-looking and outspoken lay leaders. The Laity Commission of Bengal and Sikkim Region, including bishops of the region, are clearly wearing rose-coloured spectacles and by this selection, have consciously chosen to weaken an already limping lay movement.
