The first reading of the day gives us the account of the believers who prayed for boldness and courage to stand for the truth and preach the good news of the risen Christ. Their desire to make God known to the whole world was fruitful and we are the fruits of their labour.
In the gospel we have something similar:
Nicodemus who took courage in encountering the Lord. We hear the conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus where Jesus told him that he must be born again in order to experience the
kingdom of God.
What does it mean to be born again? Jesus wants to make a fundamental change in our lives, a new way of thinking, new attitudes, and a new way of prioritizing. We need to change
ourselves with the signs of time without compromising the truthand values.
Yes, the process of changing may be difficult and demands sacrifices, hard work, and having to forgo certain things that are close to us. Today, Jesus invites us to have a change ofheart that will benefit not just ourselves but others as well.
Let us resolve to be reborn, to start afresh for we are never too old to begin again. Ultimately, this will help us to be more loving and affectionate in our day-to-day life. This will surely enhance our relationship with God and those around us.
