Humility is an attitude of the heart. Many of us would like to practice this virtue but it is very challenging because to humble ourselves we need to overcome our pride and ego. According to Pope Francis, “Humility is the only way that leads us to God.”
In the letter of saint Paul to the Philippians we see the attitude of Saint Paul, who humbled himself and gave credit to prayer, and the Spirit for what he is. And he is inviting all of us to reproduce the life of Christ by our way of life and by practicing the virtue of humility.
For that we need to pray to God and ask his Spirit to guide us to practice it in our daily living.
The virtue of humility is seen in the life and ministry of Jesus. Despite being the Son of God he took the form of human being and redeemed the world. Therefore, in the parable Jesus said that we need to humble ourselves. Today you and I are invited to exercise the virtue of humility, so that we may be able to reproduce the life of Jesus.
