Readings: Hos 2: 16, 17c-18, 21-22; Mt 9: 18-26
It is a fact that we long to experience God’s mercy and whenever we turn to him with repentant hearts, we experience his compassionate love in our lives. Our God is kind and compassionate to all.
Today in the readings God’s nature is revealed. Through the first reading prophet Hosea communicates to us that God is kind, loving, and merciful and answers the prayer of the people when they pray to him.
And in the Gospel reading, Jesus showed by healing, the same nature which was revealed by prophet Hosea in the first reading. The ruler’s daughter who lost her life and the woman who suffered from a discharge of blood for twelve years, experience God’s mercy and love in their lives.
In our life too, we experience God’s mercy and love when we have strong faith and when we leave our sinful way of life and embrace Christ. To experience his love, first I need to take steps to come closer to God like the ruler in the Gospel who came forward for the sake of his daughter and the woman who came to touch Jesus’ clothes.
It was not easy for them to come to Jesus. But Jesus praised their faith, and because of their faith, they experienced God’s love. Today through these readings I am invited to examine my own life: is my faith strong enough to experience his love and mercy in my life?
