Readings: Ex 40:16-21,34-38; Mt 13:47-53
When we think of the Tabernacle what comes into our mind? It is about God’s presence. We bow down with great reverence and feel at ease and contented. And we believe that God’s presence gives us hope in despair and peace in troubles. In the first reading we see the guiding presence of God with the Israelites in the ark, which was placed in the tabernacle. The presence of the Lord gave them the courage and strength to move on in their journey.
Whenever the cloud rose and moved, they did their journey, and when the cloud settled on the dwelling place they rested. God wants us to go forward, rest and get renewed. He accompanies us remaining faithful to his promises. In the Gospel passage, Jesus compares the Kingdom of God to a net that was thrown into the sea and catches every kind of fish.
The fisherman selects the good and keeps and throws the bad. It reminds us of the eschatological dimension of our faith. We will be judged at the end times. Indeed, the readings of the day invite us to live our life authentically by putting God first and remaining faithful to his commandments. For, at the end of the day, we are responsible for our own destiny. May God’s grace and guidance enable us to experience progress in our journey towards the fullness.
