Today’s Gospel contains Jesus’ prayer to the Father, asking for mercy and protection on our behalf. However, this prayer becomes complete when we actively participate. The gospel also reminds us that each of us has a responsibility to live out the values Jesus taught.
As Christians, we believe in distinguishing between good and evil, consistently choosing what is right. 1 John 4:15 invites us to confess Jesus as the Son of God. By placing our faith in Christ and embracing His love, we enter into a fellowship with God. When we recognize Jesus as God, internalize his teachings, and put them into practice, we can experience the fullness of life.
In our materialistic world, many Christians haven’t fully committed their lives to Jesus. Some feel empty because they cling to their own ways of living. Others remain uncertain about their spiritual state, while some neglect their faith. As a Christian today, how can I fulfil Jesus’ prayer in my life, family, and community? Perhaps by living authentically, showing love, and serving others, we can experience the fullness of life.
