Readings: Ex 14:21-15:1; Mt 12:46-50
In the first reading Moses shows the power of God by rescuing the people from the hand of Egyptians. The Lord was there for them during the day and night as he is with us this day. He guides our life and protects us from enemies. It is the Lord who strengthens and supports us in the difficult moments of our lives.
We see that the Egyptians created problems by not letting the Israelites go away but they did not lose hope. Instead, they had faith in God and eventually crossed the sea safely.
In the gospel reading, Jesus tells us that whoever does the will of the Father and listens to him are his brethren. God always assures his love for his people and keeps them under his watch. To be better sons and daughters of God, we need to live by Christian values and be firm in our faith towards God despite the chaos and difficulties in life. The Covid situation seems to reflect the struggles of Israelites in Egypt. They went through the difficulties by their faith in God.
So, I can go through and face the Covid crisis of sickness, loneliness, and loss of family members with the Lord.
