Readings: Ex 1:8-14,22; Mt 10:34-11:1
In today’s gospel Jesus lays some heavy demands upon his disciples. To be his disciples we need to let go many things. Jesus demands supreme love. We are from our families, but we must love Jesus supremely putting him before all others, even before our families.
We are called to get detached from worldly things and pleasures. We need to carry our daily crosses joyfully. When we are not able to do our daily responsibilities faithfully Jesus is telling us that we are not worthy to become his followers. We need to fall in love with him by living his values and collaborating with our brothers and sisters in doing his mission.
he expression of authentic love will indicate that we are the true followers of our Divine Master. May we grow in our willingness to die to self day by day and to follow after Christ with greater dedication.
